Why women love boxers?

The evolving non-binary fashion trend

Trends are moving towards a space of genderless fashion. Non binary dressing has become quite a fad amongst the millennials for a variety of reasons. Ranging from comfort, to making a social statement to the very fondness of the style itself. For the last couple of seasons, designers like Saint Laurent and Gucci have been conducting co-ed fashion shows showcasing a lot of unisex clothing. This has further trickled down to smaller brands and fashion influencers. ASOS – Britain’s largest and most popular online retailer came out with a unisex clothing collection sometime mid 2018 and this created a huge buzz amongst people looking to break boundaries and experiment. It’s true that you see men wearing skirts and dresses a lot less than women in suits however, mainstream brands are now exploring non-binary dressing creating more places to shop for those interested to fuel this trend.

Impact of this trend on Designers and Brands

Designers are now moving away from limiting their designs to a one dimensional perspective. For example, Italian brand Franceso Russo makes up-scale stilettos in men’s sizes.

A well known British retailer claims that half of their men’s underwear is currently bought by women, and while it’s impossible to gauge how many of these are women purchasing for partners/parents and how many for themselves, the retail chain says it “does suggest that men’s underwear is a common consideration for women irrespective of whether or not they are wearing it themselves”.

Women and their love for boxers!

From dressing in power suits to bowties to now swapping bikini underwear for briefs and boxers – it’s all about the comfort. Do you reckon this means the final frontier of gender-specific clothing – underwear – seizes to exist? For most women, boxer shorts are the perfect way to unwind from a long day at work and just relax with a glass of wine. Whether it’s their partners pair or their own, there seems to be quite a shift in the lingerie and sleepwear market.
