MEN’S FASHION TRENDS : 2020
With the year coming to an end and a new year approaching us, refreshing our closets with the upcoming trends is more than sacrosanct. Whether you’re fashion forward or not, knowing the popular trends and fads most certainly influences the way you dress. To a certain extent, it also influences the way one shops – be it online or in physical stores. So let’s get to it! Here’s our edit for 2020

01. Monochromatic Suits
We’re not taking about an all black suit here – we’re talking about a whole range of colours. Wearing a suit that’s one single colour is a chic way to exaggerate a classic silhouette. Tired of wearing a white shirt with a black suit? 2020 is your year to make things more interesting for yourself and hey, you’ll be on point – on trend too. From an all white suit to an all fuchsia suit, experiment your heart out.

02. High Waists
Pants can’t just be cropped and oversized anymore. We need them to be on or above your waist just like Harry Styles wears them.

03. Boxers > Shorts
Be a sport and wear your boxers as your shorts. SS20 seems to be all about wearing shorts that look exactly like comfortable boxers but with some spice. Popular Designers like Prada, Kiko Kostadinov and Versace have taken the whole look up a gear by imbuing the trend with an altogether more floaty and, ahem, intimate aesthetic.
04. Go Sheer
Show off your tattoos and abs by going sheer with your tops. Pair it with dramatic cargos, or an oversized suit and you’re good to go. Stick to neutral sheers like black, beige, brown, metallics and grey. If you’re an all out kinda style guru, then go for shades that stand out like peach, powder blue, sage green and such like. Not only do score major style points, it’s also super airy!
05. Advanced and Popping Jewellery
A thin gold chain or a bracelet aren’t going to work anymore. 2020 is all about turning up the heat and dramatising your look with chunky and over exaggerated jewellery. Whether it’s A$AP Rocky’s approved pearl necklace or a linked bracelet from Balmain’s new line, it’s all about the drama.
06. Patch It Up
This year, patchwork clothes deserve a space in your closet. From hats to scarves to actual garments, we’re moving to a classic up-cycled era look with this trend. You can even use rags and scraps from your old clothes and DIY your patchwork look. With the world moving towards an eco-friendly, sustainable approach, up-cycling is looking like a trend in itself. If you have a denim jacket that’s ripped, don’t throw it out! Patch it up and stay in style.
07. Co-Ords
From matching denim jeans and jacket combos to matching sweatshirts and jogging shorts at the Liam Hodges show, to the matching silk shorts and shirts at the Edward Crutchley runway show, there are a multitude of options available for co-ords this Spring-Summer! Get co-ordinated and stylish.

08. Vests
With or without a suit, vests are in and here to stay. Materials, textures and prints can be experimented with – from leather to wool, we’re all about that structured vest look. Let’s move away from pairing it with a fedora? It’s a done DONE look.
